Slovenian freestyle and mogul team in Zermatt
On 29th of September Slovenian freestyle and mogul (from club ASK Slammer) team left Ljubljana for their first training on snow in Zermatt, Switzerland for upcoming season 07/08. After 8 or 9 hours of driving we arrived to village Tasch, the last place where you can use your motor vehicle. Further on there is only a train or a taxi that takes you to Zermatt. In Zermatt only electric cars are allowed. Once all equipment and our stuff was in Zermatt we had to move it to our apartment which is quite high up, but we have the most beautiful view on Matterhorn. The first thing that we were all happy about was the fresh snow on the mountain which fell a few days earlier. We were eager to test new skies and to make some great photos. All the team members adapted to the new skies (Elan, Blizzard, K2) very well and they quickly started to master moguls. At the day 4(Wednesday) the team started to train jumps, and we have seen some nice jumps. All the last 4 days there was perfect sunshine with no clouds and temperatures around -5°C. The only thing that bothers us is the high altitude we are working on. The ski area is from 3600 to 3900m, so we get tired fast. We are a team of 8. Aleš Špan as a head coach, Jani Pogačar as a trainer, Juš Medič as a photographer and competitors; Nina Bednarik, Matej Šircelj, Nejc Dimnik, Nejc Ciglarič and Nejc German. Because conditions are great, a lot of other teams (Norwegians, Swedish, Finnish, and Germans) are here in Zermatt also. With Norwegians is also Kari Traa, who took over as a coach of girl team. Our team also trains in Freestyle Park, where Nejc Dimnik had an accident doing Cork 1080, and is now resting to recover. We are now resting, on our day off and then we have another 3 days of training.
