Kuala Lumpur – Malaysia
Visiting Kuala Lumpur was not in my plan but because of the closure of Bangkok international airport I was forced to go to Cambodia through Kuala Lumpur (actually it was my only option). In comparison to neighbor countries, Malaysia is a wealthy country because of oil it has. There are many international banks in Kuala Lumpur and various international firms. Downtown is all about skyscrapers. The Petronas towers are probably the most known buildings in Kuala Lumpur. There are also a number of huge shopping malls in the city and I especially like the fact that you can see all the downtown by foot, because it’s not so big.

Thailand in wide mode
I wanted to show you more and I can do that in wide mode. Without panorama shots I can’t show you some things I wanted. For example, the Donald Duck bay can’t squeeze into one normal landscape shot, the same is with Maya bay, Long-tail boats in Tonsai bay and so on… So here they are, my panoramas from Thailand. Enjoy!

Amazing Thailand
As far as I can say, Thailand is something I haven’t seen before. Amazing landscapes, perfect beaches, tropical forests, crystal clear waters, abundance of marine life…should I go on? My favorite things in Thailand were huge cliffs on Phi Phi islands, Long-tail boats, perfect beaches with white sand and Similian Islands (they remind me of Seychelles because the scenery is the same). Oh I forgot the marine life and diving in Thailand!

“Monkey Beach” – Phi Phi Don
The name should say it all. The beach is located on Phi Phi Don island. I stopped at Monkey Beach when I was traveling around the islands. You must watch out because the monkeys can bite you. After you have fed the monkeys with bananas don’t be surprised if they jump on you wanting more food, trust me I have seen it. They are also very intelligent, they will take stuff out of your backpack if you leave it lying on the beach.

Thailand – the land of smiles
My main activity in Thailand was indeed diving but I also had some time to see some of Phuket, Phi Phi Don and Phi Phi Leh (on which is the famous Maya bay known from the movie The Beach with Leonardo DiCaprio), Bamboo island and Similian islands where I did most of my diving. Phi Phi is recovering well after the December 2004 tsunami and you can hardly find some evidence of that event. Phi Phi is very crowded place full of tourists but it is a pleasant place to stay. On the island there are no roads just walkways. The beaches are amazing!!! Only white sand and clear tropical water with temperatures around 30°C oh and abundance of marine life. You can go snorkeling just off the coast and you will see huge amounts of fish and corals. There are also many more islands and beaches that are as good as Phi Phi or even better but are not so popular or famous so there you can find some more peaceful places. People in Thailand are also very friendly.

Diving in Thailand
As the first part of my one month trip to SE Asia I picked Thailand. I visited the Phi Phi Islands, Phuket and some surrounding islands. My main goal were Similian islands which are one of the best possible locations for diving worldwide. I reserved a 4 day liveaboard trip to Similian islands and I must say I will definitely repeat this again some day. Scenery at Similian islands is just amazing. Islands are some 150km off the coast of Phuket island. The visibility was around 20-30m and the water temperature 29°C at the top and 27°C at 40m. I have never taken underwater photos before so this was my first time. I used IXUS 860IS and housing for it.

Amazing Fuerteventura
Canary islands are also called Hawaii of Europe. I have not been to Hawaii jet, but the surfing and the scenery on Fuerteventura is just perfect, so I can imagine why they are called so. Fuerteventura is so close to Europe in fact it belongs to Spain and it is in EU. So it is inside EU and it offers me lunar like landscape, volcanoes, great surfing and amazing photo opportunities. And there is also the climate, which is pleasant all year round.
